Upgrade works on Dukes Hwy, Tailem Bend overpass

30 January 2014

Safety along the Dukes Highway will be improved with the extension of roadside safety barriers, 2km south east of Tailem Bend starting Monday, 3 February 2014.

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) will extend the existing safety barrier with 250m of new barrier on both approaches to the Tailem Bend Overpass on the Dukes Highway.

Safety barriers protect road users from roadside hazards, thereby minimising the severity of vehicle occupant injury and property damage.

DPTI advises a 25 km/h speed restriction will apply when workers are on site, with 80 km/h speed restriction in place at other times until the safety barrier at the location is complete.

The road will remain open to traffic with minor lane restrictions in place while the works are being undertaken.

During working hours, traffic will be restricted to one lane under temporary traffic signals while outside of working hours one lane in each direction will be available.

Works are expected to be completed by the end of February 2014.

The $100,000 works are funded through the Australian Government’s Infrastructure Investment Programme.

DPTI thanks motorists for their patience while these important works are undertaken.
