Three intersections in the Adelaide Hills will be upgraded, including the busy Onkaparinga Valley Road intersection, as part of the road safety infrastructure program.
The majority of crashes at the intersection have been caused by vehicles either failing to stop, or stopping suddenly from the Woodside Road entry.
A proposed roundabout will create a safer environment for traffic moving through the intersection and particularly the frequent right turns between Woodside Road and Onkaparinga Valley Road.
Construction is expected to begin next year.
In addition signs will be upgraded and new linemarking will be trialled at the Cudlee Creek to Lobethal Road junction with Fox Creek Road, encouraging drivers to slow down on their approach.
Vehicle-activated signs will be trialled to alert drivers on the Riverview Road and Pfeiffer Road as they approach the Woodside-Nairne Road to ensure safer turns.
National Road Safety Week is being held across Australia from 15 - 22 May 2022.
