Road safety in Limestone Coast

Safety on roads in the Limestone Coast area will be improved with more than 17 kilometres of roads to be resurfaced commencing on Monday 12 January 2015.

The $1,316,000 resealing works will extend the life of these roads and are expected be complete by the middle of February, weather permitting.

The work will be undertaken between 7.00 am and 5.30 pm, each day of the week, with the road remaining open to traffic with minor lane restrictions in place while the works are being undertaken.

A 25 km/h speed restriction will apply when workers are on site, with an 80km/h speed restriction in place until the reinstatement of the pavement marking is complete.

Resurfacing will be carried out at the following locations:

  • Riddoch Highway, approximately 5 kilometres south of Tarpeena for 2.5 kilometres
  • Bordertown to Naracoorte Road, approximately 2 kilometres south of Bordertown for 470 metres
  • Wimmera Highway, approximately 4 kilometres east of Naracoorte for 2.6 kilometres
  • Princes Highway, approximately 4 kilometres east of Mount Gambier for 800 metres
  • Princes Highway, approximately 16 kilometres east of Mount Gambier for 850 metres
  • Princes Highway, approximately 19 kilometres east of Mount Gambier for 1.3 kilometres
  • Beachport to Millicent Road, approximately 2 kilometres east of Beachport for 1.9 kilometres
  • Glenelg Highway, approximately 8 kilometres west of State Border for 550 metres
  • Mount Gambier to Nelson Road, approximately 19 kilometres south of Mount Gambier for 4.3 kilometres
  • Mount Gambier to Nelson Road, approximately 28 kilometres south of Mount Gambier for 2.3 kilometres.
The works are being carried out as part of the State Government’s Periodic Road Maintenance Program.

The new line marking will require the temporary full closure of the Northern Connector to all southbound traffic, and the temporary partial closure to northbound traffic, next weekend.

REMINDER: Temporary closure of intersection of South Road and Regency Road for bridge move

As part of the Regency Road to Pym Street Project there will be a temporary partial closure of the South Road and Regency Road intersection from 5am Monday, 4 January, to 5am Monday, 11 January, weather permitting.

Final asphalt for Darlington Upgrade Project

As part of the Darlington Upgrade Project, night and weekend works will be undertaken in the lowered motorway and on South Road to install the final layer of asphalt and line marking.
