Vehicle Activated Signs Installed at Nairne Road/Pfeiffer Road Intersection with Riverview Road

24 November 2015

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) has begun installing vehicle activated signs on the Pfeiffer Road and Riverview Road approaches to the Woodside/Nairne Road intersection to improve safety for all road users.

In the five year period between 2010 and 2014 there were nine casualty crashes at the intersection, resulting in six serious injuries and 13 minor injuries. Investigations revealed the cause of these crashes was failure to stop at the intersection.

The vehicle-activated signs are warning signs with flashing lights that are activated by approaching vehicles and will alert drivers to the fact they are approaching an intersection and must stop and give way.

Work on site has commenced and the signs are expected to be operational early December 2015.
