Safety will soon be improved at the Mannum to Murray Bridge Road junction with Edmund Terrace, Murray Bridge with works commencing Monday, 6 March 2017.
The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) advises that works will include the minor realignment of Edmund Terrace improving sight distances for motorists turning onto the Mannum to Murray Bridge Road, and the installation of raised traffic islands to realign the left turn lane into Edmund Terrace.
The project will also include the installation of a pedestrian refuge to improve safety and accessibility by providing a safer area to assist pedestrians to cross the Mannum to Murray Bridge Road. These works will include the installation of kerb ramps, handrails and associated pavement marking.
The upgrade will improve safety for all road users by reducing the risk of crashes at this location.
DPTI will make every effort to minimise the impact on road users during these works. The work will be undertaken between 7.00 am and 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday.
The road will remain open, with traffic restricted to one lane under traffic control when required and a 25 km/h speed restriction while workers are on site. Other speed restrictions may apply subject to on site conditions.
The works are expected to be completed by April 2017, weather permitting.
