Safety to be improved on roads in the Limestone Coast area

31 October 2017

Safety on various sections of roads in the Limestone Coast will be improved with more than 570 metres of pavement rehabilitation and surfacing works commencing on Thursday, 2 November 2017.

Pavement rehabilitation and surfacing works to improve the surface quality and extend the life of the road will occur at the following locations:

  • Riddoch Highway, junction of Gordon Street, Naracoorte for 80 metres
  • Wimmera Highway, Smith Street, Naracoorte for 400 metres
  • Naracoorte Road, junction with Frances Road, Bordertown for 90 metres

The work will be undertaken between 7.00 am and 5.30 pm Monday to Sunday, weather permitting, except for Wimmera Highway and Riddoch Highway, where works will occur
between 6.00pm and 7.00am.

Every effort will be made to minimise the impact on road users during construction hours, with the road remaining open to traffic with minor lane restrictions in place while the works are being undertaken.

A 25 km/h speed restriction will apply when workers are on site, with a maximum 80 km/h speed restriction being in place until the reinstatement of the pavement marking is
complete.

These works, including all pavement marking, are expected to be completed by the end of November 2017, weather permitting.

The works are being carried out at an estimated cost of $365 000 as part of the State Government’s Periodic Road Maintenance Program.

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure thanks motorists for their patience while these important safety works are carried out.
