REMINDER: Temporary closure of intersection of South Road and Regency Road for bridge move

30 December 2020

As part of the Regency Road to Pym Street Project there will be a temporary partial closure of the South Road and Regency Road intersection from 5am Monday, 4 January, to 5am Monday, 11 January, weather permitting.

The closure is to allow for the centre spans for the Regency Road overpass to be transported from Polonia Reserve to their final location, over Regency Road, using Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs).

Access to businesses will be maintained at all times, please support your local business.

The majority of the works will be at the South Road and Regency Road intersection. Additional works will be undertaken along South Road and the North-South Motorway, between Torrens Road and Days Road.

During the week, key works will be undertaken across the R2P Project site including:

  • Transportation and installation of the overpass centre spans;
  • Installation of overpass support structures;
  • Installation of road gantries and signage;
  • Cable installation for traffic cameras;
  • Motorway construction; and
  • Road works and landscaping.

The partial closure includes the following restrictions:

  • The North-South Motorway southbound lanes, between Grand Junction Road and Regency Road;
  • South Road southbound lanes, between Regency Road and Pym Street (including the U-turn near Hudson Avenue);
  • South Road northbound lanes, between north of Regency Road and Days Road, from 7pm to 6am, nightly;
  • South Road travelling from the north to travel west onto Regency Road;
  • Regency Road travelling from the west to travel south onto South Road;
  • Regency Road travelling from either the east or west across South Road, to continue along Regency Road; and
